The story of Frese stretches back more than 65 years to 1944 when Børge Frese founded a modest foundry in a basement in Slagelse - the town in Denmark where Frese's headquarters is still located today.
The small foundry began producing small machined metal products for local customers. Very soon customers came from all over Denmark and the foundry began to produce aluminium pots and pans, and bronze candlesticks and door knockers, etc.
During the early years the foundry was extended several times, once to make space for a modest production of valves, where the company moulded and finished plug valves, drain valves and stop cocks. Development was rapid. As the years went by, the company specialised in copper and steel alloys for e.g. the shipbuilding and offshore industries.
During the 1960s, Frese invested heavily in a new venture: Advanced valve production machinery. This was the beginning of the success story behind the advanced technology and automatic valves that Frese develops and produces today. Frese holds the world patent on the automatic valve.
Since 1989 Frese has been divided into two separate companies. Frese Metal- og Stålstøberi A/S, a high-tech foundry, and Frese A/S, developing and producing dynamic balancing valves. The combination of these individual business areas provide a solid group structure that has the skills to develop and deliver the best solutions worldwide.
Since its foundation in 1944, Frese has built a global network of specialist distributors, sales offices and subsidiaries in all corners of the world. Frese is currently represented in about 50 countries. Our company network stretches from Europe, Africa and the Middle East to Eastern Asia and New Zealand.
Frese A/S is the world-leading manufacturer of dynamic balancing valves for the HVAC market. HVAC includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Frese dynamic balancing valves eliminate the need for traditional system commissioning. The flow is adjusted directly. Afterwards only the pump has to be set to consume as little energy as possible.
Frese is still a family-owned business, currently run by Børge Frese’s grandchildren, Kim, Claus and Tina Frese, who all hold leading positions in the company.
