It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing of Claus Thorsted Frese on 3 January 2024.
Claus gradually took over the Frese Group along with his two siblings, Kim Thorsted Frese and Tina Sofie Frese, in the 1990s from their father Johnny Frese. They are the third generation of the Frese family and they took on the responsibility of running the business.
The Frese family says: "We are devastated and wish to express our deepest sorrow for the loss of our beloved son, brother, father and grandfather. We also want to express our love and gratitude for everything he brought to both the company and the family.
The company has lost a tireless pioneer who never shirked his work and responsibilities for the company and its employees. Our family has also lost the most loving and caring son, brother, father and grandfather far too soon.
As a family, we are grateful for the time we had with Claus and that he was rewarded with a meaningful and fulfilling life. At the same time, we are devastated by his untimely passing.
After around 40 years as one of the company’s frontrunners, he retired from the company's day-to-day operations in the summer of 2022, but continued working on the board of directors. The reason for his retirement was his strong desire to have time to tick things off his bucket list. Unfortunately, he never managed it, which saddens us all."
Finally, the family would like to thank all current and former employees of the Frese Group for the loyalty shown to Claus over the years.
Frese Group CEO Rene Barington says: "It is with great sadness that we received the news of Claus Frese's passing on Wednesday. All of us who worked with Claus over the years will miss his great sense of humour and warmth. His huge entrepreneurial spirit and capacity for work have been crucial to the company’s development over the years and his contribution will be sorely missed in the future."
Once the shock and grief of his untimely passing has subsided, the company will continue its development based on the strong values that Claus and the rest of the family built as the foundations for our business.
