Frese PVS valves are tailor-made for two-pipe systems in central heating, ventilation and district heating systems.
The Danish Ministry of Defence is located in a building from 1936 at Holmens Kanal in central Copenhagen. The ministry had an old single-pipe system that needed replacing. The system included 300 radiators in the 5 storey 8,600 m² building. Haugaard & Omegnens VVS is a sub-contractor to an energy optimisation project, which was implemented during the summer of 2011 at the Defence Ministry. Haugaard & Omegnens VVS was responsible for replacing the heating system. The project's general contractor was ELINDCO.
Jan-Erik Rasmussen from Haugaard & Omegnens VVS explains: "In the project specifications for the heating system, the consultant engineering company had recommended installation of a specific kind of automatic balancing valves from Frese. Yet, I thought that Frese automatic PVS valves would be more suitable for the new system. Therefore I contacted Frese Sales Engineer Claus Madsen to find a better solution."
The benefits of using Frese PVS valves in the system are that they maintain the differential pressure no matter the load. This means that it makes no difference how many radiators you turn up or down. The differential pressure remains the same everywhere in the system.
Jan-Erik Rasmussen explains that Claus Madsen played an active role in the dialogue between Haugaard & Omegnens VVS and the consultant engineering company, providing tips and advice to how the PVS valves could be utilised optimally in the system.
Despite great demand for the PVS valves, Frese delivered the specified valves for the project within 14 days and the valves were fitted within the project time frame.
"We have an excellent partnership with Frese and over time we have fitted a large number of Frese automatic balancing valves in heating and cooling systems. Frese automatic balancing valves are competitively priced. And with Claus Madsen's support in helping us to formulate our requirements and identify the best solutions, we can install incredibly efficient, high-performance, low-energy systems," says Jan-Erik Rasmussen.
