Dubai World Trade Center Expansion

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Project Overview and Details

The original Dubai World Trade Center was inaugurated in 1979 by the visiting Queen Elizabeth II, but as Dubai continued to grow, so did DWTC.

Over time, the single tower complex expanded to become the city’s premier exhibition and trade show venue, with exhibitors and organizations using the space to bring the world to Dubai, and vice versa. Over the years, there have been numerous additions and inclusions, with exhibition halls and arenas being built, along with several commercial buildings to accommodate the growing demand.

MEP contractor: Voltas.

Consultant: WSP.

Solution

Dubai World Trade Center is one the busiest exhibition centers in the Middle East and required one of the most sophisticated chilled water designs, since a lot of tenant areas were designed to be shell and core designs. WSP designed the project to have DPCVs for all tenant areas in order to control the flow during partial load conditions and to protect the chilled water system from overflows in case of tenants opting for 2-way control valves and DRV solution.

Frese has supplied Frese OPTIMA Compact pressure independent control valves and Frese PV Compact differential pressure control valves for all tenant areas in this project. Frese has also supplied large pressure independent control valves (DN 250) to the district cooling provider in the energy transfer station for the same project. All in all, the entire chilled water system is equipped with Frese’s most compact and high performing pressure independent control valves and differential pressure control valves.
